Farmers who wait for perfect weather never plant. If they watch every cloud, they never harvest. Ecclesiastes 11:4 I am going through a book 21 Days of Prayer For Your Business by Monique Mclean. I am on Day 10. The topic for today is Perfectionism and how it weighs you down. You know- I have grown up in church and I don't think I have ever read this verse before or maybe it just didn't stick when I did, but I have to say it hit me square between the eyes today. 👀 She has you ask yourself - Why? Why do you never feel like you did enough? Why do you feel that what you made, sang, did, fill in the blank, could have been better? I had to think about my Why and write it down. Then, she had you read John chapters 17 & 18. Wow.
Jesus was perfect. He was a perfect individual, yet he was rejected. My Why is because I don't want people to not like me. I want to be accepted. I don't want to disappoint people. Yet, because of paralyzing perfectionism, sometimes that is exactly what I wind up doing. It is time to find freedom from the unattainable. To give others grace, but give myself grace, as well. To embrace who God made me to be and not compare myself to others. Then, I believe I will be able to live the abundant life He has for me and be a blessing to others by just being me and not focusing on my imperfections. If you deal with perfectionism, what is your why? Find freedom in the fact that your value is in the One who created you. He says you are loved. You are enough. Now go out and change the world, being all He created you to be. #worldchanger #livingalifeofexcellence #onlyonewasperfect #21daysofprayerforyourbusiness @moniquemclean
